Man shot dead while driving on South Side

Police are seeking a man in his 20s for the shooting death of a motorist Sunday night on the South Side.

The man was dead when emergency crews arrived around 6:30 p.m. to the 700 block of East 43rd Street from multiple gunshot wounds, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

Demetrius Madden, 30, of the 1300 block of West 73rd Street, was dead on the scene on the 700 block of East 43rd Street, , according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said the man was driving westbound on East 43rd Street St. when he was fatally shot.

Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said a man in his 20s is suspected in the slaying and no one was in custody as of 6 a.m.

An autopsy is slated for later Monday.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
