Man fatally shot in Lincoln Park

November 8, 2009

A man was killed Sunday morning following an argument at a jazz club in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The 29-year-old man was shot multiple times in his abdomen and arm at 4:35 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Webster Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Gabrielle Lesniak.

The man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m., Lesniak said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatality, but was not releasing the man's name pending family notification.

The shooting may have stemmed from an argument at Green Dolphin Street, a jazz club and bar at 2200 N. Ashland Ave., according to a police source.

No one was in custody as of 3 p.m. Sunday.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
