Man shot during robbery in Lake View

November 8, 2009

A man was shot Sunday morning during an attempted robbery in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

The man, 23, was being robbed by an unknown male offender at 1:24 a.m. in an alley in the 3500 block of North Janssen Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines. He was shot by the offender and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in "stable" condition.

The offender fled the scene with the man's wallet, police said. He is described as a black male in his 20s, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

No one was in custody Sunday morning.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
