Three teens shot at Southeast Side party

November 7, 2009

Three teens were shot at a party in the Southeast Side South Chicago neighborhood early Saturday by two gunmen who asked about gang affiliations before firing shots.

The shooting happened on the 8700 block of South Essex Avenue about 1 a.m., according to police. The two shooters asked about gang affiliations, then opened fire, striking three teens in the legs, Taylor said. The three victims -- a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl -- were taken to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, all in good condition. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatning.

The shooting appears to be gang-related and no one was in custody Saturday morning.
