Suspicious package in Loop rendered safe
It took police about two hours to secure a suspicious package found early Thursday in the Loop.
Police were notified about 1 a.m. of a suspicious package found on the street in the 100 block of North Riverside Plaza, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
Police said at 3 a.m. the package was rendered safe by the police Bomb & Arson Section. Further details about the package were not immediately known.
Nobody was injured, Greer said.
The package was found just west of the Chicago River, and the Central District police and police Marine Unit also responded.
