Three banks robbed within minutes of each other
The third armed robbery of a bank in a span of about 90 minutes Thursday morning has been reported in Chicago.
A male black robbed the Austin Bank of Chicago at 1301 W. Taylor St. about 11:30 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
Earlier Thursday, the Chase Bank branch at 850 S. Wabash Ave. was robbed by two black male suspects about 9:50 a.m., according to FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates.
Seven minutes later, another Chase bank branch was robbed, Yates said. About 9:57 a.m. the Chase branch at 1122 N. Clark St. was robbed by one black male.
The two Chase branches are more than two miles apart and Yates said authorities did not know if the robberies are connected.
The suspects in all three robberies were armed, Kubiak said. The FBI is on the scene investigating all three incidents early Thursday afternoon, Yates said.
