Teen dies after leaping from stolen van
A 14-year-old girl has died after jumping out of a stolen van being driven by a 13-year-old boy, Chicago Police said. Shonique Young, a freshman at Gage Park High School, died Friday night of injuries she suffered Thursday when she jumped from the van while it was moving.

Father, son were dead for weeks
A father and son were found dead in their Round Lake town home weeks after they died -- circumstances that authorities are calling "unusual'' but not suspicious. The badly decomposed bodies of Jeffrey Johnson, 65, and Tom Johnson, 33, were found last Sunday after a friend grew worried about them and called police, authorities said Saturday. A pet cat, however, was OK.

An accidental hand brush between two men on a South Side CTA bus Sunday night led to the shooting death of a 17-year-old Chicago high school student. The shooting interrupted a typical teenage moment -- Kiyanna Salter was chatting with a friend on her cell phone when the shots rang out aboard the No. 71 bus traveling along 71st Street in Grand Crossing.

Boy shot in grocery store dies
A 13-year-old boy who was shot inside a grocery store Wednesday night has died, authorities said. The eighth-grader, identified by the Cook County medical examiner¹s office as Sameere Conn of the Southeast Side, was shot at the Hook Finer Food Store, 2501 W. 106th St. at about 8:30 p.m.

Cop slain while trying to serve warrant
Undercover officers waited outside the home of a Southeast Side drug suspect early Sunday to try to nab him outside -- generally safer than approaching the front door. But the surveillance ended with a police veteran fatally shot on the street -- struck by the suspect's fire as the man pulled up in his vehicle, police said.
