Father, son were dead for weeks
A father and son were found dead in their Round Lake town home weeks after they died -- circumstances that authorities are calling "unusual'' but not suspicious. The badly decomposed bodies of Jeffrey Johnson, 65, and Tom Johnson, 33, were found last Sunday after a friend grew worried about them and called police, authorities said Saturday. A pet cat, however, was OK.

Teen killed over hand bump on CTA bus

An accidental hand brush between two men on a South Side CTA bus Sunday night led to the shooting death of a 17-year-old Chicago high school student. The shooting interrupted a typical teenage moment -- Kiyanna Salter was chatting with a friend on her cell phone when the shots rang out aboard the No. 71 bus traveling along 71st Street in Grand Crossing.

First came the gunshots. Then, a high-speed car chase. But the most memorable moment of Friday’s early morning burst of violence in the typically quiet Dunning neighborhood was the dairy-craving criminal limping up Dawn Riffert’s front steps.

Boy, 13, killed at corner store

Eighth-grader Sameere Conn lived in a neighborhood where classmates can't be friends after school because they walk home to different gang territories. It's a place where kids tell stories about kill lists and where boys are told to throw down gang signs -- a sign of disrespect -- to prove they are not affiliated.
