Male pulled from Calumet River on South Side dies

A person died after apparently jumping into the Calumet River late Tuesday morning in Chicago’s East Side neighborhood.

The victim, a male of unknown age, jumped into the river about 3400 east on 95th Street just before 11:30 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

Firefighters pulled him from the river a few minutes after noon, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital, according to Fire Media.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
