A three-vehicle pile-up that caused a semi-truck to spill 100 gallons of diesel fuel closed state Route 47 until Sunday morning near Huntley.
The road was closed between Interstate 90 and Big Timber Road as crews cleaned up the spill, the Kane County sheriff’s office said.
The crash happened around 6 p.m. Saturday when the truck’s driver swerved to avoid a car making an abrupt U-turn and careered into a ditch, then back onto the roadway with a ruptured fuel tank spilling diesel, sheriff’s police said.
No one in those vehicles or another car involved in the crash was hurt.
