Chicago Police are investigating the death of a male found outside a home in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The male was found dead about 1:20 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Scottsdale Avenue, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Dozens of people gathered late Friday night and watched in awe as police investigated the case.
Grisly rumors swirled but police on the scene wouldn’t say much.
Neighbor Selena Guadalupe said a police forensic vehicle was on the block Friday. Helicopters flew above the property and a spotlight lit the backyard, she said. A bad smell permeated the neighborhood.
The 29-year-old said she watches true crime shows on TV.
“You never expect to see it right in front,” she said.
Neighbors said a family of a man, woman and child live in the home.
The family also has a teenage daughter and grandchildren, they said.
Police said a death investigation is underway, but could not provide further details.
