Bears report card
BY MARK POTASH Staff Reporter
Quarterback
D-In a game that begged for the franchise QB to step up and carry his team,
Jay Cutler mostly contributed to the muck 26-of-40, 281 yards, 1 TD and 4
INTs fo a 54.3 rating.
Running backs
B-When given the chance, Matt Forte (10 carries, 41 yards) and Chester
Taylor (3-20) got the job done. Except for Forte's fumble on a pass play in
the 4th quarter that is.
Receivers
C-We'll have to look at the film to see how culpable the receivers were for
the 4 INTs. Earl Bennett coming up a yard short of the end zone is killing
the Bears.
Offensive line
D-If this continues to be a work-in-progress, the Bears will soon be running
out of time. False start on the Bears' first play indicates a bigger problem
than personnel.
Defensive line
B-Israel Idonije came up big again with a batted pass that D.J. Moore
turned into a TD plus a sack. And where would the Bears be without Julius
Peppers-
Linebackers
B-Lance Briggs started but couldn't finish. Brian Iwuh played in his place
and had five two tackles-for-loss, a sack and a forced fumble. Brian
Urlacher had a TFL.
Defensive backs
A-D.J. Moore returned a pick 54 yards for a TD and had another pick-six
nullified by a delay-of-game penalty. Dan Manning laid out for a
highlight-reel pick as well.
Special teams
C-The Redskins never gave Devin Hester a chance as punter Hunter Smith kept the ball away from him. Likewise, coverage teams kept Skins' Brandon Banks in check.
Coaching
D-What's wrong with this picture- The Bears' RBs averaged 4.7 yards per
carry, but only got 13 carrires while the QB threw 40 times with 4 picks and
a 54.3 rating.
