Cops find $2.7 million worth of pot in Romeoville

Police conducting a drug investigation in southwest suburban Romeoville last Friday found approximately 2,500 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $2.7 million, more than $14,000 in cash and a stolen handgun.

Police made their find while conducting the investigation at home in the 700 block of Rogers, Romeoville police said.

During the search, officers located 110 bundles of marijuana in the garage. Each bundle weighed approximately 25 pounds, police said. They also found a stolen .357 caliber revolver and $14,200 in cash.

Police said the marijuana has a street value of approximately $2,750,000.

Carlos A. Nieto, 38, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of a stolen firearm.

The case remains under investigation, police said.
