Traveling light now has definite rewards for international travelers at O’Hare International Airport.
O’Hare has speeded-up customs processing for international visitors arriving at Terminal 5 with only carry-on luggage and proper documentation, officials said Monday.
The new O’Hare “1-Stop” Program provides informational signs in seven languages leading to the passport control area.
There, travelers without checked baggage enter designated lanes for customs processing, make “one-stop” at a customs booth with a customs agent, and then move to an “express corridor” that bypasses the baggage claim and customs exit control inspection areas.
“This initiative will greatly enhance the experience for travelers entering the U.S. at O’Hare by creating a faster, more efficient process for passengers who are traveling light and by helping to reduce wait times for all other arriving passengers,’’ Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino said in a news release.
