The decapitated carcasses of a rabbit and several chickens were found early Monday at a park near West Belmont Avenue and North Rockwell Street, officials said.
The bodies of a large white rabbit and five or six chickens were found before 7 a.m. near the sidewalk and in the wooded area of Clark (Richard) Playlot Park, located at 3400 N. Rockwell St. The majority of the animals were decapitated, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Chicago Animal Care and Control cleaned up the carcasses and the Chicago Police Department Animal Crimes Unit is investigating.
