Two people were killed early Sunday when a vehicle crashed on Interstate 57 near south suburban Calumet Park, authorities said.
The car crashed about 4:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the expressway at 127th Street, authorities said.
It was traveling in the center lane when the driver lost control, according to a statement from the Illinois State Police. The vehicle then rolled over, went airborne, hit the guardrail fence, rolled into the center median and hit the concrete bridge support.
The two killed were identified as Tyrone Wright, 24, and Brittany Jones, 22, both of Chicago, according to police. They were the only people in the car.
The cause of the crash was under investigation. The two left lanes of the expressway were temporarily closed while crews investigated.
