An Atlanta woman claims in a paternity suit that retired Bull’s superstar Michael Jordan fathered her now 16-year-old son while he was married to his former wife.
Pamela Smith filed the suit last month in Fulton County, Ga., because she wants Jordan to “acknowledge his son,” a spokeswoman for Smith said Friday.
Smith contended she became pregnant with Jordan’s child in 1995 and gave birth to his son, Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds on June 26, 1996.
The NBA Hall of Famer at the time was married to his now ex-wife, Juanita.
In her lawsuit, Smith seeks child support and medical expenses from Jordan — and also wants to legally change her son’s last name to Jordan.
Smith, 48, seeks to retain full custody of the teen, though her suit asks for medical tests to prove Jordan’s paternity.
Jordan has talked to the teen and is aware that he is the boy’s father, said Smith’s spokeswoman, April Love.
“She’s not bashing him. There’s no animosity,” Love said of Smith. Love said Smith lived in Chicago and dated Jordan before he was married.
In a YouTube video posted in December, Smith’s son — who calls himself “Taj Jordan” — said he has talked to Jordan.
“I just want him to be more in my life,” the teensaid. “He knows I’m his son.”
A spokesman for Jordan, the majority owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, couldn’t be reached Friday for comment.
Jordan and his wife, Juanita, divorced in December 2006. They have three children.
