A man was arrested Monday in connection with a recent string of hair salon robberies in Chicago and several suburbs. He was being questioned Monday night at the Skokie Police Department, though detectives from multiple jurisdictions were working on the case, Skokie Police said in a release.
“There’s a joint investigation into the armed robberies of salons, and we are questioning a person of interest,” Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer confirmed.
The arrest came just hours after a Great Clips hair salon in the 1200 block of North Ashland was robbed Monday morning in the Wicker Park neighborhood, police said.
Chicago Police would not say whether Monday’s robbery was linked to the same serial bandit suspected of several robbing salons in recent months in Chicago and suburbs including Bensenville, Lombard, Skokie, Niles, Glen Ellyn and Morton Grove.
Authorities were conferring with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, though police cautioned that the investigation is still in its early stages.
Detectives from Chicago and several suburbs were still working to follow up on “numerous” investigative leads, Skokie Police said.
