A 67-year-old woman died after a wrong-way hit-and-run driver slammed an SUV into the car she was riding in early Christmas morning in the Logan Square neighborhood.
A 2000 Chevrolet Blazer heading north in the southbound lanes of the 2600 block of North Pulaski crashed into the passenger side of a southbound Volkswagen Golf about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Obduila Villalobos, 67, who was in the back seat of the Golf, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was declared dead at 5:18 a.m., authorities said.
Her 25-year-old daughter was driving the vehicle, but it was not immediately known wheter she was injured.
The driver of the Blazer fled. A 25-year-old man in the front passenger’s seat refused medical attention, police said.
The Chicago Police Major Accident Investigation Unit was investigating.
