Armed robbers leave Jefferson Park bakery empty-handed

Three masked armed robbers who entered a Jefferson Park wholesale bakery early Sunday but got away, but they left empty-handed.
One of the suspects pointed a gun at an employee and tried to force workers into a walk-in cooler at 1 a.m. Sunday at Chicago Sweet Connection Bakery, 5569 N. Northwest Hwy., after entering through an employee entrance, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
Some of the workers were able to get away and called police. The would-be robbers fled through the employee entrance,, police said.
Police dogs were brought in to hunt for the suspects, but they were not found, Kubiak said.
Police were investigating Sunday, and no one was in custody.
Chicago Sweet Connection Bakery is a wholesale bakery business with a retail shop at 5569 N. Northwest Hwy.
