Man killed in accident on Dan Ryan early Saturday

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in a fatal crash early Saturday on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Charges were pending against one of the drivers involved in a two-vehicle wreck that happened about 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan at 95th Street, according to the Illinois State Police.
A 2002 GMC Crew Cab truck was in the outer lane of the expressway when it suddenly jumped across four lanes and struck a 1994 Chevrolet truck, a state police trooper said.
Both trucks hit the median wall, then went to the right and struck another barrier, the trooper said. The driver of the Chevrolet truck, identified as Phillip Briner, 21, of Crown Point, Ind., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m.
Alcohol was believed to play a roll in the crash and charges were pending against the driver of the GMC truck, who apparently was not injured in the crash, according to state police.
