A Kansas man was charged with trying to bring a loaded handgun onto an airplane at O’Hare airport on Saturday, authorities said.
Dean Bieker, 54, allegedly had a .25 caliber beretta handgun in his carry-on luggage when he tried boarding a plane at 1:30 p.m. , said Ronald Gaines, police news affairs officer.
Screeners with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration saw the handgun when it went through an x-ray machine at a security checkpoint, Gaines said.
Bieker, of Olathe, was arrested and charged with a felony count of trying to bring a loaded weapon on an aircraft, Gaines said.
