Three robbers tied up a clerk and stole jewelry from a North Side Edgewater store Monday afternoon but were arrested by police after a short foot chase, officials said.
The robbery happened at 1:50 p.m. at Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company in the 1100 block of W. Bryn Mawr, authorities said.
Two robbers — a man and a woman — posed as customers and asked a clerk to see a ring and watches, police said. When the employee returned with the jewelry, they both pointed guns at the clerk.
They let a third robber, a man, into the store, then used duct tape to bind the store clerk to a chair in the back of the business, police said. The female robber also demanded a woman hand over a cash box, police said. The robbers fled out the back door but were arrested by police after a short foot chase. No one was injured.
