A 51-year-old Lockport woman driving to work early Sunday was killed when her SUV was hit at 95th Street and LaGrange Road by a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Orland Park man who ran a red light and told police he had been drinking since Saturday evening, a Cook County sheriff’s police spokesman said.

Matthew Senica, of 13711 S. 88th Ave., has been charged with felony aggravated DUI and is to appear in court at 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Cook County Sheriff’s office said Monday.

Heidi Roseen, of the 16900 block of West 143rd Street, was pronounced dead at Palos Community Hospital shortly after the 6:15 a.m. accident, sheriff’s police spokesman Frank Bilecki said.

A registered nurse, Roseen was driving to her job at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn when the accident took place, Bilecki said.

Roseen was driving east on 95th Street and had the green light when she entered the intersection, he said.

That’s when the Ford F-150 truck driving south on LaGrange Road ran the red light and T-boned Roseen’s Ford Explorer, Bilecki said.

“Our (accident) reconstruction team is not done yet, but the preliminary investigation indicates he may have been driving in excess of 60 mph, possibly 70 mph,” Bilecki said.

“He has made statements that he had been out drinking in Chicago since 5 p.m. Saturday,” Bilecki said of the Orland Park driver.

Thomas Roseen said he and the couple’s three children were stunned when police called early Sunday. He rushed to the accident scene and saw the heavily damaged vehicles.

“Why didn’t (the driver) just stay in the city? Hopefully, he’ll do about 40 years in Stateville,” Roseen said.

Roseen said his late wife grew up “down the street from me in Palos Heights.” They attended Sandburg High School in Orland Park together, but did not start dating until after graduation.

“We would have been married 30 years in August,” he said.

Heidi Roseen spent her entire nursing career working at Christ Medical Center, starting there soon after high school.

“She worked in the intensive care unit and had to work this Sunday. She only worked part-time. I guess this is bad timing,” Roseen said.

The couple has three children, Gretchen, 27, Audrey, 24, and A.J., 21.

“She was a dedicated mother, and that pretty much consumed her time. She liked to go boating, loved water skiing and was a good cook,” Roseen said.

She attended Ashburn Baptist Church in Orland Park. Arrangements are pending, he said.

The Orland Park driver, who was treated at Palos Community Hospital for minor bruises and a cut on one hand, is now in police custody at the sheriff’s lockup in Maywood, Bilecki said. Blood tests have been taken, Bilecki said.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident, Bilecki said.

A woman who identified herself as the Orland Park man’s mother said he had been visiting with friends in Chicago Saturday night. She declined further comment.

LaGrange Road was closed to traffic in both directions between 87th Street and 107th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bilecki said. Traffic was directed to Kean Avenue and Gilbert Avenue.
