Rahm’s $7.3 billion infrastructure plan

Here are a few of the major promises in Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s plan:
■ Eliminate 26 miles of CTA slow zones over ten years
■ Upgrade or repair 100 CTA stations over three years
■ Build 16 miles of bus-rapid transit on Jeffrey Boulevard this year and a similar route in the Central Loop next year.
■ Construct new Green Line station connecting McCormick Place to Motor Row
■ Replace 900 miles of century-old water mains
■ Repair 750 miles of sewer lines and 160,000 catch basins
■ Repave 2,000 miles of streets in ten years
■ Build a new Malcolm X College and a new classroom building at Olive Harvey College
■ Add two new runways at O’Hare by 2015
■ Build 12 new parks, 100 basketball courts and 20 playgrounds
■ Complete the 31st Street Harbor and Bloomingdale Trail
■ Build four new boathouses along the Chicago River
■ Expand schools to relieve overcrowding, build new laboratories, gymnasiums and tech-ready classrooms.
