1 dead, 1 hurt when car hits bus

One man was killed and another was injured when the car they were in crossed into the path of a CTA bus and hit it head-on in Englewood Sunday morning, police said.

The crash happened at 67th and Halsted streets about 7:20 a.m., officials said. The bus was southbound on Halsted when a northbound Ford Taurus tried to turn left onto 67th Street in front of the bus and hit it, officials said.

The seven people on the bus were not hurt, but the passenger in the Taurus, Simeon Allen, 30, of the 0-99 block of West 62nd Street, was dead on the scene, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The driver, Liafem Okundaya, was taken to Stroger Hospital.
