A 15-year-old Riverside boy is facing juvenile charges after being arrested for fighting with police twice in less than a week.
On Jan. 24, officers were called to an apartment in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue and found the boy barricaded inside and extremely violent, Riverside police said.
After the boy said he was depressed and was going to harm himself, police forced their way into the apartment. The teen fought the officers, and it took several to subdue him, police said.
The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and his guardian was told he’d have to turn himself in once he got out, police said.
But police two days later learned the boy had already been released, and his guardian told officers she had no control over him and that he wouldn’t come to the station, police said.
When officers again went to the apartment on Saturday, the teen immediately became confrontational and tried to run away before hitting two officers, police said.
Again it took officers several minutes to get the teen into custody, and one of the Riverside officers had to be treated by paramedics for his injuries.
The teen, now faces seven felony and misdemeanor charges, police said.
He also was charged last year for fighting at Riverside Brookfield High School and also was arrested in Chicago at the Lollapalooza music festival for a battery incident involving concert promoters and Chicago Police, Riverside police said.
