A Chicago man got busted trying to avoid a Denver boot fine by driving a booted Audi to a secluded spot and trying to remove the device himself, police said.
A bystander saw Jovan Streeter, 22, trying to take the boot off the back wheel of a 2004 Audi A8 sedan in the 3800 block of North Rockwell Street, police said.
Streeter had apparently driven the car, with the boot on, from the street on that block to a nearly out-of-sight parking area. He then tried to remove the boot with a hammer and lug wrench, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The witness called police, who found Streeter and arrested him.
“The car was booted because the registered owner had outstanding parking tickets,” Mirabelli said.
Streeter, of the 4300 block of West Monroe Street, was cited with damage to city property. Sun-Times Media
