Four teens charged in CTA robbery

Four teens were charged with beating and robbing a CTA bus driver and passenger Saturday night on the South Side, officials said.

The teens — two 17-year-olds and two 13-year-olds — allegedly boarded the bus in the 600 block of East 71st Street around 7 p.m. Saturday after disabling the engine by hitting a switch on the side of the bus, police said.

Darius Love, 17, of the 700 block of East 90th Place, was charged with a misdemeanor count of battery and a felony count of robbery. Anthony Williams, of the 7200 block of South Evans, was charged with a misdemeanor count of battery and a felony count of attempted robbery, police said.

On Sunday, a judge ordered Love and Williams held on $150,000 bond. Prosecutors said Love punched a passenger and stole an iPod, watch and $7 in cash, while Williams also attempted to rob a passenger. They then allegedly beat and punched the bus driver, police said.

The two 13-year-olds have each been charged with a count of misdemeanor battery.
