One man lay dead while another was taken to a hospital in serious condition after a Thursday night shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said.
About 9:20 p.m. Thursday, the two men were in the 6300 block of South Honore when they were shot, Chicago Police News Affairs Officers Ron Gaines said, citing preliminary information.
One of the men was dead when police arrived on the scene. The other man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his leg, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Fire officials said a third gunshot victim fled after the shooting. Police could not confirm that a third person was injured in the shooting.
No one was in custody late Thursday. Area South detectives were investigating.
