DeAndre Daniels scored a
career-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Connecticut to an easy 99-78 victory Tuesday against DePaul in Big East play in Storrs, Conn.

The Huskies (11-3, 1-1) opened a 20-point halftime lead, and the Blue Demons (10-6, 1-2) got no
closer than 12 in the second half.

Ryan Boatright added 22 points and Shabazz Napier 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Connecticut. Brandon Young scored a career-high 35 points and Cleveland Melvin 18 for DePaul, which played without forward/center Donnavan Kirk and guard Charles McKinney, who were suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules.

‘‘Any time you’re missing two starters on the road in a tough
environment against a good team, it doesn’t help,’’ said Demons coach Oliver Purnell, who indicated both players likely would be back for the team’s next game.

Ohio State 74, Purdue 64

Deshaun Thomas scored 22 points, and the No. 15 Buckeyes
(12-3, 2-1) helped coach Thad Matta earn his 100th Big Ten victory by shooting 56.4 percent (31-for-55) to defeat the Boilermakers (7-8, 1-2) in West Lafayette, Ind. Matta is
100-41 — a .709 winning percentage — in conference play in his ninth season at Ohio State.

Duke 68, Clemson 40

Quinn Cook scored a career-high 27 points on 12-for-16 shooting, and the No. 1 Blue Devils (15-0, 2-0) held the Tigers (8-6, 0-2) to 10 points on 3-for-25 shooting in the first half en route to an Atlantic Coast Conference rout in Durham, N.C. Cook erupted after missing all 11 of his shots from the field Saturday against Wake Forest.
