An Iranian refugee who beat three female family members to death with a three-pound hammer in 2007 because he felt they questioned his masculinity was sentenced to life in prison Monday.

Daryoush Ebrahimi, 61, bludgeoned his wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.

In February 2007, a concerned relative called police after receiving a “disturbing phone call” from Ebrahimi, the state’s attorney’s office said.

Officers dispatched to Ebrahimi’s Rogers Park apartment came across a disturbing scene, police said at the time.

The home in the 6400 block of North Washtenaw was covered in blood, and Ebrahmi was beating himself over the head with the hammer, prosecutors said.

“‘I do the job,’” Ebrahimi told police at the murder scene, Assistant State’s Attorney Sanju Oommen said during an early court hearing. “He said the women had disrespected him and said that he was not a man.”

Police found the bodies of Ebrahimi’s wife, Karmin Koshabeh, 44, and her sister, Karolin Khooshabeh, 40, in the couples’ second-floor apartment.

They found his mother-in-law, Ileshvah Eyvazi Mooshabad, 60, lying in the pantry of her residence across the stree, prosecutors said.
