Chicago Symphony Orchestra music director Riccardo Muti, who is ill with the flu, has dropped out of this week’s subscription concerts, beginning Wednesday. Replacing Muti will be Edo de Waart, music director, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic.
The program and dates remain the same.
For now, Muti, who is currently is in Chicago, plans to complete the rest of his winter residency with the CSO and its upcoming Asian tour, a CSO press representative said.
