A man died Sunday after a shooting in west suburban Bellwood, marking the village’s first homicide of the year.
Claude Montgomery, 21, suffered multiple gunshot wounds at Bellwood and Warren avenues, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Montgomery was walking with a female when a male approached and shot him several times at 1:50 p.m., Bellwood Police Deputy Chief Miguel Herrera said.
Montgomery, of the 200 block of 26th Avenue in Bellwood, was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at 2:06 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
Montgomery had gang affiliations, Herrera said.
