A Northwest Side man was charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery of a child after officials at Lurie Children’s Hospital reported that his 4-month-old son had multiple bone fractures Saturday morning, police said.
Manuel A. Lopez, 20, of the 4900 block of West Oakdale, is scheduled to appear in bond court on Monday, according to a statement from police News Affairs.
Lopez allegedly told police that his son would not stop crying on Friday and he became frustrated, police said. Lopez allegedly grabbed his son’s knee and pushed it downwards until it made a “popping noise,” police said.
But the baby began crying more, and Lopez allegedly took his son’s ankle or foot and pulled it until it made a similar noise, police said.
