New Cincinnati football coach Tommy Tuberville denies “dining and ditching” several recruits during a Friday dinner at his former school, Texas Tech. Tuberville took the Bearcats’ job on Saturday.

One of the recruits told Wreckem247.com: “The waitress brought our food out, and we thought [Tuberville] went to the bathroom, but he never came back to dinner. Then next thing I know, the next day, he made an announcement that he’s going to Cincinnati.”

The implication was that Tuberville was busy talking to Cincinnati, while the Red Raider recruits were still enjoying their meals.

“I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus, but I went to the steakhouse and sat with each player,” Tuberville told the “Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday. “Everyone was finished eating and got up to leave. I did the same thing.

“I wasn’t even involved in the [Cincinnati] job until Saturday morning. I was at the office the next morning when I got the call.”
