A 6-year-old child was in serious condition Monday evening after nearly drowning at Rainbow Beach in the South Shore neighborhood.
The child was pulled from the water by a lifeguard when emergency crews arrived at 7:21 p.m., a Fire Media Affairs spokesman said.
Paramedics took the child to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition, the spokesman said.
