One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood Thursday afternoon, police said.

Two 20-year-old men were shot about 4:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of West 48th Street, police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said, citing preliminary information.

One of the men, shot in the right side and left buttocks, was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.

The other man was shot in the right thigh and taken in “stable” condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
