Police are questioning a suspect in the beating death of a 16-year-old girl found in a south suburban Dolton motel Wednesday morning.
A housekeeper found 16-year-old Gloria Woods unresponsive at the Best Motel and Suites in the 1300 block of East Sibley Boulevard in Dolton about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dolton police spokeswoman TaQuoya Kennedy said.
Investigators initially thought the teen died from a gunshot wound to the head, but a Thursday autopsy determined she died from blunt head trauma and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Police have a suspect in custody Thursday night, Kennedy said. The girl’s family knows the suspect.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and Dolton police are investigating.
