Fire ’em & hire ’em . . .

Hmmmm . . . Could Mayor Rahm Emanuel pull a “Gipper” move?

◆ To wit: Would Rahm take a page out of former President Ronald Reagan’s handbook and issue orders to fire striking teachers . . . and immediately hire their replacements?

◆ Backstory: The air traffic controllers union went on strike in 1981 and Reagan ordered more than 11,000 workers fired and replacements to be brought in. The union was decertified two months later.

◆ Or is Sneed smoking posies?

Smoke ’em . . .

Dateline: Puff puff pass . . . Is it not a natural question to ask Emanuel if he has ever smoked marijuana — now that the Rahmster is backing a plan to decriminalize small amounts of weed?

So, naturally, Sneed called the mayor’s office to inquire.

“He’s out of town,” said a spokesman. “He’s in Prague.”

◆ Has he ever admitted to smoking a spliff?

“Well, I don’t know. But I can send the mayor an email,” she said.

◆ Reefer report: Having graduated from trendy New Trier High school in 1977 . . . Whaddya think?

It’s Jane Fonda!

Barbarella & the butterflies: Actress Jane Fonda was in town this week visiting her son, Troy Garrity, who plays a Chicago newspaper reporter in the hit Starz series “Boss,” which stars Kelsey Grammer.

◆ Click. Click. While Troy toiled, his mom was spotted snapping pics of the elusive “Blue Morpho” butterfly at the Butterfly Haven at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum on Thursday . . . and taking an architecture tour on a Wendella boat.

$$$$ . . .

A Romney Report: Uber GOP fund-raiser Ron Gidwitz is on his game.

◆ Ka-ching! Sneed hears the GOPers actually raised $3.5 million smackeroolees — not just $3.3 million bucks — Thursday night at a Pump Room fund-raiser for GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney .

◆ From the Pump Room to the Purple Pig: A Groovy GOPer: State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, who heads Romney’s statewide campaign, sped off to a Kid Rock concert at the House of Blues after the Romney fete and later dined with Mr. Rock at the Purple Pig. Be still my tongue.

The Walker win . . .

The winning formula: Wisconsin Gov. Scott faith, fundamentalism, family, freedom, beer, brats and mom’s chocolate chip cookies” Walker — the recall survivor who has Dem strategists scrambling for his recipe — was just snagged as a headline speaker at the Commercial Club luncheon June 25 at the Chicago Club.

A sports short . . .

The numbers game: Yipes! The number of times the one-on-one 2003 basketball victory of Ariel Investments CEO John Rogers (who was wearing eyeglasses) over Michael “His Airness” Jordan has been viewed on YouTube was a whopping 5,183,484 as of Saturday evening.

Imagine.

I spy . . .

Singer Frankie Valli dining at Rosebud on Rush last Saturday . . . Race car driver Danica Patrick working out at the East Bank Club . . . Singer Carole King breakfasting with top Obama strategist David Axelrod and his wife, Susan, at Ina’s on Friday . . . Chicago Bear tough guy Brian Urlacher dining al fresco on the patio with lady pal (and former Chicago Catholic schoolgirl) Jenny McCarthy at Tuscany in Wheeling on Thursday . . . Billionaire Warren “The Oracle of Omaha” Buffett at Gibsons Steakhouse on Tuesday.

The Baldwin beat . . .

What a difference 19 years makes.

◆ Consider: When Alec Baldwin, 54, got married to actress Kim Basinger in 1993, the hot duo wed on a beach under a canopy of tossed rose petals.

◆ Update: Later this month, Baldwin is getting married to fiancee Hilaria Thomas, 28, in a formal Catholic church ceremony in New York.

Isn’t that Hilaria?

Police alert!

Keep your car batteries close: Word is 10 batteries were stolen from Jeep Cherokees in the Logan Square area in a matter of a few days last week. Just thought we’d be a little helpful.

Sneedlings . . .

Condolences to the family of Hyatt Regency GM Patrick Donelly, whose beloved father, Ray, died last week in South Africa . . . Sunday’s birthdays: Jason Patric, 46; Greg Kinnear, 49. Monday’s birthdays: Isabella Rossellini, 60; Paul McCartney, 70; Andy Shaw and Bruce DuMont, both ageless, and Yvonne Whitaker and Roger Ebert, both ageless and priceless.
