An off-duty Chicago police officer suffered minor injuries when he was shot in both legs as he sat on a backyard porch early Friday on the far South Side. The 38-year-old officer — a 10-year veteran, of the department who was with another off-duty officer — heard gunshots and felt pain in his legs. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was treated and released. The police said it happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 9700 block of South Genoa Avenue. No one is in custody. It wasn’t clear whether the gunfire was meant for the officers, the police said.
