Please, MSNBC, do not hire John Edwards.
Let the plumage of his narcissism grow gray off-camera.
Please, Huffington Post, do not give Edwards a blog, an unjust reward for despicable behavior. This is a man who, while running for president, shoveled hundreds of thousands of dollars to a grumpy mistress to keep the public and his dying wife from knowing about the affair and a secret love child.
A hung jury last month couldn’t quite convict the former senator from North Carolina of a federal crime, and prosecutors on Wednesday announced they would not seek a retrial. But no matter. Everybody now knows what a creep Edwards is.
So, please, CNN, don’t do another Eliot Spitzer on us. Remember how you hired the former New York governor with a penchant for prostitutes immediately after his fall from grace?
Really, CNN, what was that all about?
Edwards wants back into public life. As he said in his first post-trial news conference, “I don’t think God is through with me.”
But shouldn’t public life be through with him?
At least for a good long while?
