The boys need help, too
Fair's fair; time to give the male candidates their turn.
When he wears a suit, the shirts are crisp and white. When it's a more casual speech, he rolls up his sleeves, the politician's way of saying, "I'm just a hardworking guy who can get the job done." It's all a little too ... perfect.
ADVICE: Show a little flair. Clothes aren't just functional -- he could tell us more about his personality by not always choosing the standard-issue power tie.
He landed on Esquire's Best Dressed list in 2006, and is always put together: french cuffs, dapper suspenders, the whole shebang. "There's no doubt that Joe Biden has style," wrote Chris Mohney of Black Book magazine, "yet that style often teeters between snazzy gangster and dapper car salesman."
ADVICE: Tone it down. Too much slickness, and voters may doubt that he's sincere.
The 5-foot-7 McCain makes up in experience what he lacks in stature. If only he dressed for his height. "John McCain's suit jackets are too long," wrote Alan Au, an expert on "style and the shorter man," at huffingtonpost.com. "He clearly should be wearing a short size, not a regular size."
ADVICE: If McCain would trust in a good tailor, his suits would fit trimmer, elongating his body.
