Oktoberfest history

This world-famous festival dates back to 1810, when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese got hitched. A massive celebration was held in a meadow in Munich, Germany — the same meadow still used for Oktoberfest today — to honor the nuptials and give thanks for that year’s crops.
