Cinema buffs won't want to miss the Traverse City Film Festival, which gets rolling July 28 with six days of independent, foreign and documentary movies, as well as lectures and panel discussions. Free family flicks will be shown each night on an outdoor screen at Open Space Park on West Grand Traverse Bay; traversecityfilmfest.org.
