Pauline Frommer hosts Travel Show seminar

Travel writer/guidebook author Pauline Frommer will be hosting a seminar on “What You Need to Know Before you Plan Your Next Vacation” at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Travel and Adventure Show in Rosemont.

The veteran travel expert, radio show host, and award-winning frugal travel guide writer, said travelers really can save on their vacation expenses if they plan smartly and really do their homework.

“My tag line for my books has always been ‘spend less, see more’ and I really believe that is possible,” Frommer said. “Simple thing such as booking a room without that fabulous ocean view can save you a lot of money. And honestly, are you really going to sit in the room all day and take in the view? You’re going to be down there on that beach IN the view. Avoid any room on a cruise that has a balcony; you can save a lot of money for the same cruise/amenities with an inside room.”

Frommer will discuss all sorts of frugal vacation tips and host an audience Q&A and autograph session at the seminar.

The two-day Travel Show takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Rd., Rosemont. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 26 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan 27. Admission is $9-$15; kids 16 and under, free. Visit for more information and a complete lineup of celebrity guest speakers.
