IF YOU GO

GETTING THERE: Glacier National Park is in northwestern Montana on the border with Canada. Park headquarters is in West Glacier.

The closest airport is Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell, Mont. (25 miles west of West Glacier). There are also airports in Great Falls, Mont. (200 miles east of West Glacier) and Missoula, Mont. (156 miles south of West Glacier). Rental cars are available at all airports.

Amtrak services both East Glacier and West Glacier. Glacier Park Inc. provides a shuttle service at these locations; call (406) 892-2525.

STAYING THERE: Lodges and campgrounds in the park fill up fast in the summer, so make a reservation if you can. Go to nps.gov/glac/planyour visit/reservations.htm for a list of accommodations.

FEE FREE DAYS: No park entry fees will be required on July 18-19, Aug. 15-16, Sept. 26 and Nov. 11.
