Lauren Streicher, M.D., biography

Dr. Streicher is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. Following an internship in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, she completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. Since then she has been in private practice in Chicago, and is currently on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University's medical school, The Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Streicher is well known throughout the Chicago area due to her frequent appearances on network news discussing all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1992 she was a member of the WBBM Health Team with weekly appearances. In addition, Dr. Streicher has participated multiple times on Chicago Tonight panel discussions and has appeared on The McNeil Lehrer Hour. She is regularly quoted in major newspapers and magazines including The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Sun Times, The Wall Street Journal, and many women's magazines. Castle Connolly and Chicago Magazine have consistently recognized her as one of the "Top Doctors" in Chicago.

Her column, "Ask the Ob-Gyn" appears in the Chicago Sun Times. Her book, The Essential Guide to Hysterectomy was released in 2004.

Dr. Streicher lives in Chicago with her two teenage daughters. She studies ballet, piano, and frequently appears in amateur theatrical productions.
