Lisa Lenoir biography

Lisa Lenoir is travel and society editor for the Sun-Times. She writes travel features and manages freelancers and staffers who submit stories to the weekly Sunday Travel section. She also covers the city's vibrant philanthropic community in a weekly column called "In Society." Prior to her appointment to these positions, she was the paper's fashion editor.

She attended Indiana University and graduated in 1989 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and a minor in graphic design. She has served in many organizations including the African-American Leadership Advisory Committee for the Art Institute of Chicago, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the North American Travel Journalists Association, The Apparel Industry Board of Chicago and Fashion Group International of Chicago. Her awards include the Chicago Association of Black Journalists' Award of Excellence in Commentary, 1998; the 2003 Peter Lisagor Journalism Award in Features (team project), 2003, and the 2002-2003 Lowell Thomas Silver Award for Sun-Times Travel Section (team project.)

In addition to her media work, Lisa teaches fashion journalism and writing for managers at Columbia College Chicago and creates handmade greeting cards for private clients.
