Nothing says “the holidays” quite like tattoos, cigarettes and anger, right?

Well, OK, maybe not. But that’s what we’re getting this week with H&M’s new “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” capsule collection, with fashions based on the antiheroine Lisbeth Salander of the popular crime series by Stieg Larsson (and upcoming film, which opens Dec. 21).

And with the sea of colorful sequin tops and fur shrugs that are all over stores right now, this grungy collection is, ironically, a breath of fresh air.

Designed by Trish Summerville, the costume designer for the upcoming “Dragon Tattoo” film, the line has a dark, urban feel and features leather jackets, torn jeans and slouchy hoodies in industrial shades of black, gray, white and dark red.

Despite the story’s dark subject matter, Summerville thinks this clothing can be different and fun for everyone.

“I hope what I’m conveying with the collection is anybody who can shop at H&M, being female, can go in and find a piece to go with their wardrobe,” says Summerville in a video filmed during a photo shoot for the line.

“I don’t want it just to be girls that are kind of tomboyish or punky. I hope it’s someone that’s quite feminine as well that can pick one of the denim jackets or the leathers pieces and mix it with like a floral dress. ... but it’s definitely edgy.”

The collection is available at the 840 N. Michigan location.
