This week's sales & events

July 24, 2008

STARTING FRIDAY: Who wants designer shoes 70 percent off? Grace, 1917 N. Damen (773-384-7223), is marking down all spring and summer shoes Friday through August 15 (or until all merchandise is gone). Designers include Pucci, Celine and Givenchy.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY: Been meaning to make your way to downtown Evanston? Now's the time to do it. The annual Super Summer Sale features bargains from more than 200 merchants around the Chicago Avenue and Dempster business district.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: Bucktown boutiques can be hard on the wallet, so don't miss the area's annual Summer Sidewalk Sale. More than 50 shops, including Beta Boutique, Clothes Minded and p.45, will be marking down their goods. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

SUNDAY: Meet PGA tour player Aaron Baddeley (who's not bad on the eyes) when he stops by the Original Penguin Store, 901 N. Rush (312-475-0792), from 2-5 p.m. to sign autographs. The store opened its doors July 18 and offers women's clothing as well as men's.
